It sounds like Disney has taken a lesson from Marie Kondo, and applied it to cost cutting, because The Mouse seems to be on a roll of cost-cutting. They had originally planned to cut around $5.5 billion, but things were going so well (I mean, not for those who are losing their jobs, but you know) that they’re not upping that number by $2 billion to a target of $7.5 billion.

This is all in the name of streamlining profits for the most capitalist of companies. Old Walt himself would be proud!

Tech

Oceans cover 70% of the Earth’s surface, but Freshwater is only 2.5% of Earth's total water supply. So if you start to do the math, there’s not going to be enough to go around as the world’s population is expected to grow to an estimated 9.8 billion people by 2050.

Now there’s a new wave-powered desalination machine that can filter 49,000 liters of water daily (that’s 12,944 gallons for us here in the U.S.).

According to an article by the U.S. Energy Information Administration “Ocean waves contain tremendous energy. The theoretical annual energy potential of waves off the coasts of the United States is estimated to be as much as 2.64 trillion kilowatt hours, or the equivalent of about 64% of total U.S. utility-scale electricity generation in 2021.”

Sports

OMG! I can’t even tell you how excited I am for the upcoming Formula 1 race in Las Vegas. The logistics of putting the race on are only matched by the logistics of fans worldwide who will tune in to watch the race on a Saturday night (when typically races are held on Sundays during normal British views hours, since that’s where F1 originated from, but I digress). For me I’ll need to stay up late on Saturday night, November 18 to tune in at 1 AM (technically Sunday morning) to watch the race from the East Coast.

This will be the first time a Formula 1 race will be held in Las Vegas on the actual Strip. The race isn’t without controversy. The construction has been annoying to Las Vegas natives, and when tickets first went on sale they were selling for astronomical prices, but it seems prices are plunging with only a week to go before the event. Grandstand seats that were going for $1,645 have now dropped to $1,060, and when they first came out for sale were going for $2,000 a ticket to sit on metal grandstands, at night, in the cold desert air. Hard pass! I’ll stick to staying up late at night to watch the race on F1 TV.

Entertainment

The Queen Bee isn’t done with her ‘Renaissance’, and she’s taking a page out of Taylor Swift’s Era Tour Movie playbook and bringing the ‘Renaissance’ tour to the big screen. She dropped a new trailer for her forthcoming “Renaissance” concert film.

Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour has earned more than $579 million worldwide, with 2.7 million fans attending her concerts across 56 dates in 39 cities worldwide. The only female artist to even come close to the level of earning power from touring in Taylor Swift. So yea, The Queen Bee is crushing it!

Kendrick Lamar just scored a $8.6 Million, 3-floor penthouse on the 10th floor of Pierhouse, a 10-story apartment building in Brooklyn that has a who’s-who of A-list celebrity residents including Ed Sheeran, Matt Damon, and Amy Schumer.

Some crazy stats on the crib include “four bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and a whopping 2,000 square feet of outdoor space spread over two levels, including a private rooftop that overlooks the East River, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and lower Manhattan. Some of the standout features of the townhouse-style condo are its soaring 18-foot ceilings, reclaimed heartwood pine floors, and walls of floor-to-ceiling windows.”

So next time I’m in NYC you think Kendrick Lamar could hook me up with a tour? Or maybe even better yet what if Cash Jordan made a YouTube video of his place. I’d watch that over and over!

So much news, so little time. Until tomorrow we’re signing out.
