Disney to invest $60 Billion in parks and cruises, Tesla may build a plant in Saudi Arabia, Two Russians and one American walk into a space station, Kevin Hart partners with the NFL Eagles, Gisele Bündchen buys a post-Tom Brady estate, and sponsors stick with Aaron Rodgers.

In today’s newsletter we discuss Disney to invest $60 Billion in parks and cruises, Tesla may build a plant in Saudi Arabia, Two Russians and one American walk into a space station, Kevin Hart partners with the NFL Eagles, Gisele Bündchen buys a post-Tom Brady estate, and sponsors stick with Aaron Rodgers.

Business

Go with what you know. I’m sure there’s an old adage to that effect, or at least there should be. Disney is doubling down on investments in their parks and cruise lines with their recent talks about selling off ABC, FX, and National Geographic as well as possibly selling a minority stake in ESPN. Over the next 10 years Disney is now planning to spend double their initial plan of $30 Billion, to now spend $60 Billion on “expanding and enhancing domestic and international parks and cruise line capacity.”

Count me as a Disney fan! Not only does my wife own stock in the company, but we absolutely love their cruise line and Disney's Castaway Cay private island in the Bahamas. If Disney’s plan to double capital expenditures means they’ll be able to add more cruise ships and boost the company’s revenue I couldn’t be happier!

Tech

Fresh off the opening of Tesla’s China plant a few years ago, and most recently their plant in Germany, Tesla is now considering opening a plant in Saudi Arabia according to the Wall Street Journal’s reporting. It turns out there’s no shortage of countries eager to court Elon Musk’s favor and try to get a Tesla plant built in their countries; just ask Israel and Turkey.

The move by Saudi Arabia does make a lot of sense. Saudi Arabia's sovereign fund, the Public Investment Fund, has boat loads of money that they are eager to invest in companies with sky high potential like Tesla. Plus it could give Tesla access to eager customers in the Middle East. It’s reported the Saudi’s are dangling lucrative metals contracts for the “purchase certain quantities of metals and minerals the company needs for its electric vehicles from countries, including the Democratic Republic of Congo.” As Saudi Arabia works to move their economy away from oil and gas, they are building up their domestic industries and infrastructure, and an electric future with Tesla may be in the cards.Tesla

Space

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. Two Russians and one American walk into a space station. No really. On Friday, September 13 all three astronauts docked with the International Space Station. What do you think they talked about during the trip? The list of off limits topics has got to be mind boggling.

With an insane cost of roughly $100 Billion spent to date on the design, development, assembly, and running of the station, it’s good to see that despite all our differences we can still get along for the economic good of the ISS.

Entertainment

Kevin Hart continues his endless shilling with a sponsorship deal with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles for his own tequila brand Gran Coramino. According to an article on CNBC “The deal with the franchise will include signage inside the team’s Lincoln Financial Field, branded bars in the stadium and marketing on the Eagles’ digital platforms.”

As long as I don’t have to watch another Kevin Hart commercial for DraftKings then I’ll drink to that.

Real Estate

Look who’s moving on (literally) from Tom Brady. Gisele Bündchen just bought another South Florida home and it’s GORGEOUS! She already owns, along with her ex-husband Tom Brady, a number of properties worth over $100 Million dollars including “homes in the Bahamas and Montana, as well as a New York City apartment where Bündchen had been staying during their split. She also retains a Costa Rica vacation home.” No word yet on how those properties have been divided post-divorce, but I’m guessing Gisele won’t be asking Tom for any decorating advice for her new pad.

Sports

Aaron Rodgers lasted 4 plays with the New York Jets in their season opener before going down with a burst achilles tendon sidelining him for the season. Jet’s fans are devastated, but if the team’s history is any indicator they’re used to it (I’m a Giants fan 4-life!). But apparently Aaron Rodgers sponsors aren’t too upset, and they’ve planned to stick with him for the longerm. Sponsors including Amberjack, Zenith Watches, TaylorMade, and Adidas have all voiced their support for Rodgers, because at the end of the day he’s a brand that has loyal fans who will continue to follow him off the field while he makes his recovery back to the field.

So much news, so little time. Until tomorrow we’re signing out.
